Animal Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique, that harnesses a powerful life-giving energy we all possess to promote relaxation and resolve issues on a holistic level– promoting balance and healing in the mind, body and spirit through hands-on or distant healing.

Reiki Energy has been around since the beginning of the universe and is believed to have been harnessed by man for many centuries. The modern history of Reiki begins at the end of the 19th century when it was rediscovered and formalised by Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926).

Reiki provides a safe way to treat nervous, dangerous or wild animals as healing can be sent distantly. It should never be seen as a replacement to conventional medicine or recommendations – always seek veterinary advise if you suspect your pet is ill.

Animals are acutely sensitive to energy and often pick up on the energy around them in their environment and the humans that care for them. This also means that Reiki can be very beneficial for animals.

Reiki is a safe and a natural complement to traditional medicine.  It has many benefits ranging from relaxation, supporting healing, helping with grief and separation anxiety, helping with behavioural problems and much more. Sometimes the effects of Reiki can be seen straight away and sometimes it takes several sessions.

Reiki is compatible with all religions and religious beliefs.

How animal reiki works

All matter is made up of energy. Every being in the universe is therefore connected at this energetic level. Eastern traditions denote this life-giving energy as Ki – the Universal Life Force.

Just as our physical bodies have their own energetic properties, our thoughts, emotions and spiritual intuition are vibrating at their own frequencies, creating an energy field that surrounds the human body. This energy field is known as an aura. It is made up of seven layers of energy.

Animals are physical, emotional and spiritual beings just like humans, and in essence the aura of an animal is a real-time expression of their physical, emotional and spiritual self.  Chakras are the energy centres in the body that regulate the two-way flow of energy between the physical body and aura. Each chakra connects the physical body to one of the seven subtle aura layers.

Each chakra is responsible for a localised area of the body and its specific organs, glands, nerves, body systems and associated senses, emotions and issues. The chakras are connected to these organs and body systems via energy gateways known as Meridians, There are seven major chakras: Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root.  In addition to the major chakras, there are a number of smaller energy points in the animal body, known as the minor chakras and bud chakras, which deal with the sensory systems of the animal.

By treating energy imbalances in the body and its energy fields, Reiki can be used to stimulate health and natural healing.
